THE THUNDER STORY
For decades now, Toffee Vodka has gained a reputation as being the go-to tipple for skiers and boarders across the French Alps. The delicious combination of creamy toffee and crisp ice-cold vodka proved to be the perfect ‘straight off the slopes’ chill-out drink. And no doubt provided the fuel for some of the more outrageous apres-ski party nights.
Back in the 80s and 90s every bar worth its salt across the Alps was creating its own version of this sweet, gooey, boozy bottle of loveliness. And needless to say, the bars with the best toffee vodka attracted the biggest crowds.
And it was in this hedonistic atmosphere of ‘ski hard and party harder’ that Thunder was born.
The creator and founder of Thunder Vodka, was the bar manager at the famous G-Jays bar, nestled directly at the base of the slopes in Val d'Isère. It was here that he perfected his craft, and G-Jays became widely credited with having the ‘best toffee vodka in town’…. and maybe even the Alps!
And the rest, as they say, is history.
Our Vodka's and Liqueurs are a culmination of many years of mixing and meticulous preparation. The closely guarded secret recipe produces the perfect symbiosis of distilled wheat grain vodka and a delicate toffee syrup infusion.
Wherever possible, raw materials and production processes are sourced and managed locally. The premium five-times distilled wheat grain vodka is produced and bottled at the Thames Distillery in London.

Awards have been received from the highly acclaimed Spirit Business Awards International Spirit Challenge & The Great Taste by The Guild of Fine Foods, awarding body.
Thunder Toffee + Vodka was first awarded gold back in 2009, for flavoured spirit drink. The awarding body for this particular award comes from The Spirits Business who stages The Vodka Masters in a drive to reward the finest brands, Judged and chosen by a panel of leading spirits and on-trade specialists! Since Thunder Toffee + Vodkas first award in 2009, we have since received a further four gold awards for each of the following years 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2014.
The Great Taste awards are organised by The Guild of Fine Foods. It is the acknowledgement benchmark for speciality food and drink. It has been described as the ‘Oscars of the food world’ and ‘the epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’. Quite simply The Great Taste award logo is a sign of trust for the consumer when buying good quality food & Drink.
